SJS Lions Morning Prayer

April 28, 2020

Dear SJS Community,

Scripture quote for the day: But you be string, and don’t let your hands be slack; for your work shall be rewarded. – 2 Chronicles 15:7

It’s hard to believe that we’re coming to the end of April and there are just a little more than 30 days left of the 2019 – 2020 school year.

As you know, all year long we have been posting affirmations throughout our school. We, the faculty and I, wanted to emphasize the students proper use of self-talk. Before we say or do anything, or feel any emotion, we engage in self-talk.

Self-talk is something we’re often unaware of because it happens instantaneously and quickly. The use of affirmations changes self-talk to something that is positive so that responses and performance in school are more positive.

The affirmations changed every week. I wanted to begin yesterday with an affirmation for you to share with your students, but I forgot. This week’s affirmation is:

We ask you to have your student say this each day this week as they begin their school work. I would also use it when things weren’t going well for students and we needed to get things back on track. The words we speak to ourselves, to one another, and about one another have a profound impact.

Let us make sure we teach our children the powerful influence of the words they speak to themselves.

Have a great day!

Yours truly,

James A. Hauser, Principal
