Letters from our teachers
Grade 7
May 2008
Classroom teacher: Mrs. Linda Klotzbeecher
The conclusion of the 2007-2008 school year is coming quickly! We have been very busy in Grade 7. Over the past 8 months, the students have enjoyed making new friends with our K-1 “buddiesÂ.” This has been an enriching and fulfilling time for all of us. The seventh graders have looked forward to working with their buddies by creating new and fun activities. Sharing our favorite stories as children, working on art projects, having a picnic lunch, and playing in the school yard together has been most rewarding. We hope to continue this tradition and renew our friendships next year.
The students worked diligently on this year’s education fair. They put so much time and effort into researching information about the New England, Southern, and Middle colonies. It was a true learning experience in which they learned how to work cooperatively in a group and research information using different tools and sources. They can take pride in the sense of accomplishment with their final product.
A poetry unit was something new added to the curriculum this year. The students learned about traditional and contemporary poets and their work. The students shared poets of interest, and researched and wrote their own original poems. This form of art and writing was a common thread throughout the experience. For some students, this was the first time that they were able to read, interpret, and enjoy poetry.
While many of the students are sad to leave the seventh grade, they are looking forward to the challenges they will experience as eighth graders. Rest, relax, enjoy, and have a safe summer!
