Events and PTO

The St. Jerome PTO strongly encourages parents to join PTO meetings, which consist of guest speakers on current issues affecting our students, updates on budget and curriculum, and planning family and children’s events. Events include the Weymouth Day parade, SJS Craft Fair, Halloween party, Christmas breakfast, and several Spirit Day fundraisers.

Math-A-Thon raises thousands for St. Jude

Several St. Jerome students participated in the annual St. Jude Hospital Math-a-Thon to help find the cure for childhood cancers. The following thank-you letter came from Marlo Thomas:

"On behalf of the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the success of your Math-A-Thon event. St. Jude depends on generous, motivated people such as St. Jerome students to provide hope for children suffering from cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. Thank you for making your Math-A-Thon event a success. My father, Danny Thomas, founded St. Jude in the belief that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” I am deeply grateful for your effort in raising $4,645.50 in support of his dream. God bless your good heart!"

Spirit Days are a rousing success

Spirit Days have ended for the 2007-2008 school year, and the results are impressive. Many students gave more than the required dollar donation regularly, while others gave increased amounts when the cause had special meaning to them. All in all, the students certainly lived up to the mission of St. Jerome School by being Christ-like models in their communities. Here are the results:

September: Epilepsy Foundation — $280
October: Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund — $298
November: Dana Farber Breast Cancer Fund — $331
December: St. Vincent de Paul — $310
January: American Red Cross — $267
February: American Heart Association — $267
March: Avon Breast Cancer Walk — $330
April: Jimmy Fund — $248
May: Weymouth Veterans’ Services — $231

GRAND TOTAL: $2,562

St. Jerome students enjoy a delicious year

The students at St. Jerome are picky about their pizza and they were delighted to enjoy a year of their favorite from Papa Gino’s on Bridge St. in North Weymouth. Their monthly hot lunch was always hot and delicious and had the kids wishing they could have it every day.St. Jerome students presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Yana Teleguine for her support of the St. Jerome School hot lunch program. We all add our thanks to Miss Teleguine and her wonderful staff for their outstanding service throughout the year.

The Fortune 500 Club

We are pleased to introduce our updated fund raising program, the Fortune 500 Club. It replaces the $1,000 club, established in 2006 to raise funds for St. Jerome School. Thanks to the enthusiasm and support of many participants, the program has funded furniture and bookcases for the new school library and most recently, the school office.

The Fortune 500 Club will continue to award cash prizes monthly. Annual membership costs only $50 and places your name in all 12 drawings. Initial goals include repairing the auditorium sound system and replacing some gym pads used for the athletic programs. We hope we can count on your support. The program will run from May 2008 to May 2009, and the first drawing will be held at the end of May 2008.

To become a member, download and complete the form below. For more information, call the school at 781-335-1235.
